Syncreon Ratification

In early March, our members at Syncreon have voted 99.9% in favour of strike action. The previous agreement expired Marcg 31st, 2019.  Syncreon is the last stop in the supply chain to Fiat Chrysler’s Windsor Assembly Plant.

On April 2nd, 2019, our members at Syncreon Automotive had voted at Unifor 195 Local in Windsor for the new contract.  We had 90% of the total members come out to vote for the agreement.  Our members have ratified this agreement by 81% in favour of the new three-year deal.  The ratification avoids a possible strike at the plant that supplies (FCA) Windsor Assembly Plant.

The Bargaining Committee, our Local and the National Union are pleased with this outcome and it feels good to get the deal for the workers.  The Bargaining Committee went in knowing exactly what the membership wanted and pushed hard each day to achieve their goal.  The members have told us all along they felt they were underpaid.  The $1.50/hour increase is effective immediately and as well, this agreement has additional wage increases for each year of the contract.

Many issues needed to be addressed, with “respect” being a top priority. Emergency leave days were addressed due to the government constantly making changes to the ESA.  There were many language gains, not limited to Union office, as well as harassment language, time off, seniority, benefits and also a signing bonus.  There are many improvements in this collective agreement and we owe a lot to this membership.  This is a great collective agreement!

Congratulations to the Bargaining Committee, Mike Borovic, Dave Chapman, Linda Poho and Rob Kennedy, as well as Theresa Farao, Staff Rep. and Tammy Pomerleau, Acting President.

Thank you to the full-time officer’s Emile Nabbout and Sarkis Gaspar and many executive board members that gave their support during this process.
